Frederick John MILLER. Frederick was born in Ringmer, in Sussex, ENGLAND, in the June quarter of 1883 and he was baptised at the Church of St Mary the Virgin Ringmer on 1 July 1883.
Frederick was the son of Ambrose MILLER (1864-1920) and Elizabeth READING (1879-1917).
Frederick is listed in the Census of 1891 as a child in Ringmer, Sussex. Later in the 1901 census his occupation is that of a baker's journeyman.
I have only some details on this family which were provided to me some time ago by my late father-in-law, John Fisher.
From the details John Fisher provided me prior to his death, I believe Fred had five children from three relationships.
Before 1911, Frederick married, in ENGLAND. I do not have details on this marriage but understand that together they had one child:
i. Marjorie. Marjorie was born in ENGLAND bef 1912.
He then travelled to Fremantle, WA, Australia, arriving on 25 March 1913 aboard the "Gneisenau", accompanied by his brother Ambrose. He gave his occupation as that of a baker.
Frederick did not stay in Western Australia and returned to England not long after arriving. His brother George remained in Australia.
On his return to England from Australia, I understand he may have married again. I do not know her name or any other details. They had two children together:
i. Elizabeth Anne (Bunty) (born after 1922)
ii. Wendy (born after 1922)
Finally, I believe Fred had two more children to ?Louie (surname unknown).
Together they had the following children:
i. Jean (1922)
ii. John.
Fred was an alderman on the council for Brighton or Hove. He is pictured below meeting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip in 1954.
Frederick John MILLER died probably near Hove in Sussex, England. I do not know his date of death.
