Tom's maternal Miller family arrived in the port of Freemantle, Western Australia, Australia, in 1910 aboard the "Gneisenau" with the arrival of his grandfather George Ambrose Miller and his older brother Frederick Miller, having departed Sussex in England.
Their parents, Ambrose and Elizabeth Miller remained in Ringmer, Sussex.
