James Ang joined the Department of Economics at Monash University in 2007 as a Lecturer after receiving his PhD from the Australian National University. He was promoted to his current position of Senior Lecturer in 2009. His main areas of research interest are economic growth and development, with a focus on the roles of R&D and financial liberalization. He has published widely in these fields, with recent articles in, among others, the Journal of Development Economics, World Development, the Southern Economic Journal and the Journal of Macroeconomics. He has recently received the Dean's Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher, an Australian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship, and two ARC Discovery Projects grants to study issues related to finance and growth.
