My
previous experience was at applied econometric modelling and macro- and
regional economic forecasting in the former Soviet Union.
In 1985-1991 I was working on alternative submissions on economic
reforms. Some of the latest projects of that time were: an
alternative plan of privatisation of government owned enterprises;
feasibility studies of joint ventures; and a joint Soviet-American
project on economic consequences of the reduction in defense
expenditure in both countries. I used to teach post-graduate
students in Moscow and had experience of guest lecturing at several
American universities. Since 1991 academic year I have joined the
Australian academic community. In 1991, I was visiting Charles
Sturt University (Wagga Wagga, NSW), and then, in 1992-1993 academic
years I taught at The University
of Melbourne.
I am
Deputy Head of the Department of Economics. I am
responsible for the department's education portfolio. This means
coordinating economics course work across all campuses of Monash
Unversity in Australia and overseas where the economics disciplene is
offered.
