Changes to Monash proxies
Tuesday, 29 April 2008
The recent changes to Monash University proxy servers require the settings that we use in R and MikTeX to be changed also.
  • In R, the program should now be called without any additional arguments.
  • In MiKTeX Update, remove all information from "Connection Settings".
I think it will be necessary to log-in to the internet service via a web-browser at the start of each day. After that, R and MikTeX should communicate seamlessly with the outside world.

What does "Lord" mean in the Bible?
Sunday, 04 May 2008

Lord is used for God, Jesus and for other people in positions of authority. For example:

Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Here, "Lord" is clearly referring to Jesus.

Does the law of Moses apply to Christians today?
Friday, 25 April 2008
No. This was debated at length in the early days of Christianity and the apostles all agreed that the Old Testament law of Moses does not apply to Gentile Christians.

Who is God speaking to in Genesis 1:26?
Friday, 25 April 2008
When God created human beings he said
Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. (Genesis 1:26)
In saying "Let us", he appears to be speaking to someone.
